Cooperations
The mathematical activities of non-university research institutes in Bonn are pursued in close collaboration with the department.
- Max Planck Institute for Mathematics
-
The Max Planck Institute for Mathematics is a research institute for pure mathematics and belongs to the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e.V.. With its well known guest program the institute aims at stimulating the exchange of ideas within the international mathematics community.
It was founded by the great Bonn mathematician Friedrich Hirzebruch and has always been strongly connected to the university's Mathematical Institute.
- Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI
-
The Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI conducts research in the field of computer simulations for product and process development, and is a prominent corporate partner in the industrial and science sectors.
SCAI designs and optimizes industrial applications, implements custom solutions for production and logistics, and offers calculations on high-performance computers. Our services are based on industrial engineering, combined with state-of-the-art methods from applied mathematics and information technology.
Since 2010, the Fraunhofer SCAI operates a branch lab at the University of Bonn. A part of SCAI's Virtual Material Design Department is located at the Institute for Numerical Simulation.
