Members and committees

The department consists of three mathematical institutes:

  • Mathematical Institute (MI)
  • Institute of Applied Mathematics (IAM) and
  • Institute of Numerical Simulation (INS) (see Institutes).

The members of the fourth institute (Discrete Mathematics) DM, while technically independent of the faculty, are permanent members of the departments main committee „Fachkommission“.

The directors of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics are also members of the „Fachkommission“.
