William Mead started at the Institute for Applied Mathematics in January 2026 as a postdoc, joining the Interacting Random Systems group led by Prof. Dr. Patrik Ferrari. Prior to this, he obtained his PhD at the University of Melbourne, Australia, under the supervision of Prof. Jan de Gier and A/Prof. Michael Wheeler.
His research focuses on integrable probability, which uses algebraic methods to analyze probabilistic models arising in statistical mechanics and quantum many-body systems.
