In June 2026, Florian Hauser joined the Institute for Applied Mathematics at the University of Bonn as a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Dr. Christian Scharrer, with whom he also wrote his Master's thesis. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Bonn. His research focuses on the Willmore energy, which measures the bending of surfaces and is used to model biological membranes. In particular, he studies the existence and regularity of its minimizers.
