September 9 - 13, 2024
Venue: Lipschitz-Saal (Endenicher Allee 60, Bonn)
Organizers: Johannes Alt (University of Bonn), Luca Fresta (University of Bonn), Michel Pain (Université Paul Sabatier)
Description: Disordered systems emerge from physical models by incorporating additional random effects. They also appear as models for complex systems in various contexts, such as computer science or biology. Understanding these models rigorously has been a great challenge for several decades, but the mathematical research in disordered systems and related fields has seen tremendous progress in recent years and benefits from a fruitful interplay of techniques from probability theory, mathematical analysis, combinatorics and mathematical physics. The aim of the school is to present to PhD students and young researchers some of the most fascinating developments in disordered systems and related fields in recent years.
Lecture series by:
• Alice Guionnet (Ecole Normale Supérieure Lyon)
• Ioan Manolescu (University of Fribourg)
• Eliran Subag (Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel)
• Simone Warzel (Technical University of Munich)
Additional talks by:
• David Belius (UniDistance Suisse)
• Giorgio Cipolloni (University of Arizona)
• Vieri Mastropietro (University of Rome La Sapienza)
The University of Bonn and HSM are committed to diversity and equal opportunity. We aim to increase the proportion of women in areas where women are underrepresented and to facilitate their careers. We therefore strongly encourage women with relevant qualifications to apply.
To encourage the participation of young researchers facing increased financial burden, such as researchers from developing countries, a small number of funded places are available. Please indicate in your application (under "Comments") for which type of financial support you would like to be considered.
The application has expired.
In case of scientific questions, please contact the organizers at recentdevelopments(at)hcm.uni-bonn.de in case of questions concerning services and administration, please contact hsm(at)hcm.uni-bonn.de.
We would also like to draw your attention to the XXI International Congress On Mathematical Physics. You can find more details on https://icmp2024.org/.
