The Mathematical Salon is an evening event that continues the tradition of the Salons of the 18th and 19th centuries. It consists of a mathematical lecture accompanied by two musical performances. The lectures are aimed at laypersons.

A guest researcher from a trimester program at HIM holds a public mathematical lecture , which in a broader sense has to do with her/his research or the topic of the trimester program. The lectures are also aimed at laypersons.

We organize online math nights twice a year with alternating academic partners or on our own, running from the afternoon until late night. In workshops for children, panel discussions and lectures "for everyone", we want to show how diverse and fascinating mathematics is.

The Friedrich Hirzebruch Lectures aim at illustrating the relation between mathematics and art, society and other fields.

Together with the other Clusters of Excellence in Bonn, we have already organized two "Excellence Slams" and plan to continue doing so in the future.

The constant and active commemoration of Felix Hausdorff, his life and his work, is very important to us. 

We took part in the lecture series "The 7 greatest adventures in mathematics" and are also planning on many other lecture series, such as on mathematics and music.
