Family Support
The Hausdorff Center for Mathematics strives to provide a learning and working environment that is supportive of families and care takers and improves the work life balance of all members of the community. We understand that family friendliness and targeted family support is an essential condition for gender equity. But we also understand that care taking responsibilities affect many individuals and take many forms, so that we need to focus on individual needs to provide the best support.
Parent-Child-Offices
Two parent-child-offices allow to bridge unexpected child care gaps, and combine work with caring duties. One of them is located in the annex building of the MZ, the other at HIM. All members of the Bonn math department can make use of the room in MZ on request.
Travel Funds for Parents
Dedicated travel funds can be used to cover additional expenses associated with taking young children with you on business trips. If you are interested in this opportunity inquire with the HCM DEI Coordinator.
Childcare Services at Events
The University of Bonn cooperates with Proki Kinderevents to provide access to child care at events and workshops. Organizers should talk to their event coordinator if they are interested in providing this services to participants or speakers at their event.
Kids Box
Kids Box is a kids room on wheels which - when opened up - creates a space where kids can play and where parents can care for their small children. It also includes a portable crib. Kids Boxes can be rented out from the University Equal Opportunity Office for events or to transform an office into a parent-child-room.
Changing Tables
Changing tables are provided in the main math building (Mathezentrum) in 0.015 and in the Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics.

The Office of Family Services of the University of Bonn is the central point of contact for students and employees with family responsibilities. They offer information, advice and resources on both, university programs and initiatives and public family support for all members of the university community.
