The Hausdorff Center for Mathematics (HCM) is formed by six participating institutes:
- the Mathematical Institute (MI),
- the Institute for Applied Mathematics (IAM),
- the Institute for Numerical Simulation (INS),
- the Research Institute for Discrete Mathematics (DM),
- the Department of Economics (ECON), and
- the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics (MPIM).
The involved faculty consists of more than 60 Bonn professors. The structural and thematic collaboration between the University of Bonn and the Max Planck Institute has a long history and manifests itself in many ways including joint seminars, conferences and co-funded positions.
Two main activities have been established as components of HCM:
- The Hausdorff Research Institute for Mathematics (HIM) which hosts research programs with international guest scientists,
- The Hausdorff School for Mathematics (HSM) which is the central institution serving all early-career researchers in mathematics at Bonn.
