Collection and Storage of Personal Data as well as Type and Purpose and their Use

  • The processing of your personal data is essential for study organization purposes within the framework of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in mathematics at the University of Bonn. Personal data, data on participation in (teaching) events, and data on examination results are therefore collected and stored by us. In addition, all documents relevant to studies are kept in an examination file.
  • In the course of organizing your studies, your contact data will only be passed on to lecturers/speakers whose (teaching) events you are attending. Your examination data will be passed on within the University of Bonn within the framework that is necessary for the organization of your studies and that is provided for in the examination regulations.
  • The data processing is carried out in accordance with art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 DSGVO based on the consent of the data subject.
  • Your study-related data may be used anonymously to compile statistics about our study programs.
  • Your personal and study-related data will be stored for the duration of your studies in order to be able to document your achievements to the required extent. The data will be deleted as soon as their storage is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which they were collected and as soon as the prescribed retention periods have been reached.
  • In addition, data may be stored if this is provided for by the European or national legislator in EU regulations, laws or other provisions to which the data controller is subject.

Disclosure of Data to Third Parties

Your personal data will not be transferred to third parties for purposes other than those listed below. Insofar as this is necessary for the processing of the legal relationship with you according to art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. b DSGVO, your personal and study-related data will be passed on to lecturers / instructors for whose (teaching) events you have registered exclusively for study-related purposes within the University of Bonn within the framework provided for by the examination regulations and for organizational purposes. The data passed on may be used by the lecturers / instructors exclusively for the purposes stated.

Data Subject Rights

You have the right,

  1. if you have given your consent, to revoke your consent at any time in accordance with art. 7 (3) GDPR vis-à-vis the aforementioned controller. This has the consequence that the data processing, which was based on this consent, may no longer be continued for the future;
  2. in accordance with art. 15 GDPR to request information about your personal data processed by the aforementioned controller. In particular, you can request information about
    - the purposes of processing,
    - the category of personal data,
    - the categories of recipients to whom your data have been or will be disclosed,
    - the planned storage period or, if concrete information on this is not possible, criteria for determining the storage period,
    - the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or objection,
    - the existence of a right of appeal,
    - the origin of your data, if it was not collected by the aforementioned controller,
    - the possible existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, if applicable, meaningful information on the details thereof;
  3. in accordance with art. 16 GDPR to demand the correction of inaccurate or the completion of your personal data stored by the aforementioned controller without undue delay;
  4. in accordance with art. 17 GDPR to request the deletion of your personal data stored by the aforementioned controller. This does not apply if further storage of the data is necessary
    - for processing for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information,
    - for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject,
    - for reasons of public interest,
    - for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims, or
    - for archiving purposes in the public interest, scientific or historical research purposes, or for statistical purposes pursuant to art. 89(1) DSGVO, insofar as the erasure of the data is likely to render impossible or seriously prejudice the purposes of such processing;
  5. in accordance with art. 18 GDPR under the conditions specified therein to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data;
  6. in accordance with art. 20 GDPR, under the conditions specified therein, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format or to request the transfer to another controller, as well as
  7. complain to a supervisory authority in accordance with art. 77 of the GDPR, without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy.

Duty to Cooperate

You are not obliged to provide your data in accordance with the above-mentioned legal provisions or regulations. If you do not disclose or provide the data to the above-mentioned responsible body, this will have the consequence that participation in (teaching) events or studies in our Bachelor's and Master's degree programs is not possible.

Right of Objection

If your personal data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests pursuant to art. 6 (1) p. 1 lit. e GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal data pursuant to art. 21 GDPR, provided that there are grounds for doing so that arise from your particular situation. If you wish to exercise your right to object, you must submit a written request to the aforementioned controller.
